American women's beach volleyball teams made a remarkable entrance into the main draw of the Beach Pro Tour Elite16 in Hamburg, Germany, with three duos prevailing during the qualification round held on Wednesday.
Kylie Deberg and Xolani Hodel emerged victorious in a tightly contested three-set match against Germany’s Hanna-Marie Schieder and Tabea Schwarz. Despite this being only their second professional appearance together, they pulled off a confident win with set scores of 17-21, 21-17, 15-11.
Brook Bauer and Madelyne Anderson also showcased resilience, battling back after losing the opening set to defeat Japan’s Asami Shiba and Reika Murakami 2-1 (17-21, 21-16, 15-13). This performance signals a triumphant return to the Elite16 main draw for the first time since March.
Adding to the U.S. success, Hailey Harward and Molly Phillips cruised past the Netherlands’ Lisa Luini and Desy Poiesz in straight sets (21-15, 21-17). The victory was especially meaningful after recent qualification misses in tournaments at Gstaad and Montréal.
The Elite16 Hamburg leg is a crucial part of the 2025 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour—a premier international competition platform. Women's pool play kicks off Thursday, continues through Friday, and leads into the knockout stage, culminating in the finals on Sunday at Am Rothenbaum Stadium.
Other teams earning main draw positions through qualification include pairs from:
