Australia Gears Up for Historic Beach Volleyball World Championships

Australia is set to make history by hosting the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships for the first time, with the 2025 event coming to Adelaide. Scheduled between 14 and 23 November 2025, the tournament will feature 96 of the world's top teams—48 women's and 48 men's pairs—competing at The Drive and Pinky Flat in the heart of the city.

This marks not only a milestone for Australia but also the first time the Championships will take place in the Oceania region. It reflects the growing prominence of Australia's beach volleyball scene and years of investment in player development and facilities.

Boosted by Empowerment and Investment

Australia's ascent in the sport has been catalyzed by the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment Programme, which has contributed over USD 378,000 since 2019. These funds have allowed Volleyball Australia to:

  • Hire full-time coaches and technical staff
  • Create mentorship opportunities for young players
  • Build a high-performance training hub in Adelaide
  • Establish a clear athlete pathway from junior to elite levels
