The 2025 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour is off to an electrifying start as Brazil and the USA prepare to clash in the gold medal match at the Elite16 tournament held in Quintana Roo, Mexico.
Final Set for Sunday
The championship match will feature Brazil’s Carol Salgado and Rebecca Cavalcanti facing off against Americans Terese Cannon and Megan Kraft. The final is scheduled for Sunday at 14:00 local time (19:00 GMT) in Playa del Carmen.
Road to the Final
- Carol and Rebecca: The Brazilian pair, despite being early in their partnership, have remained undefeated throughout the tournament. Their semifinal included a stunning straight-sets win over American top seeds Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher.
- Cannon and Kraft: The Americans bounced back from an early defeat to Cheng and Shaw in the Round of 12. As one of the top-ranked losing teams, they advanced and upset world No. 1s Müller/Tillmann of Germany, then dominated Cheng and Shaw in the semifinals.
This match marks Cannon and Kraft’s fifth consecutive podium finish at the Elite level. A gold medal has so far eluded them, making Sunday’s final their biggest opportunity to date.
Bronze Medal Match
The third-place match will see Nuss and Brasher go up against Cheng and Shaw, guaranteeing the United States at least two duos on the podium.
