Brazilian Duo Carol & Rebecca Reach New Heights in Beach Volleyball Rankings

Carol Solberg and Rebecca Cavalcanti have reached a new milestone in their beach volleyball careers, climbing to No. 3 in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking. This marks the highest team ranking the Brazilian duo has achieved to date.

Their climb was solidified after securing a quarterfinal finish at the recent Elite16 tournament in Montreal. This performance awarded them 760 ranking points for a fifth-place finish. With only eight qualifying events counted in the past year, they were able to retain the full point value, bringing their total to 5,980 and moving ahead of other top teams.

Ranking Shift

Carol and Rebecca leapfrogged over the American team of Terese Cannon and Megan Kraft, as well as the Austrian pair Dorina and Ronja Klinger, upgrading their ranking from fifth to third.

Other Notable Ranking Changes

  • Switzerland’s Anouk and Zoe Verge-Depre rose to fifth place.
  • Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson made a major leap from 35th to 18th after their tournament win in Montreal.

The progress of Carol and Rebecca is a testament to their consistency throughout seasons filled with top-five finishes on the Beach Pro Tour. Their success also reflects Brazil’s depth in women’s beach volleyball, with compatriots Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes still leading the global leaderboard with 7,880 points.

Looking Ahead

The FIVB World Ranking plays a crucial role in Olympic qualification and seeding for international tournaments. With the 2025 season poised to unfold across venues worldwide, all eyes will be on whether Carol and Rebecca can maintain or surpass their current form and challenge for the top two positions.
