Canada and Mexico Shine with Double Medals at NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour Opener

Canada and Mexico both achieved notable success at the 2026 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour opener held in San Jose, Costa Rica, earning two medals each. In the women's category, Canada's Darby Dunn and Alison Mckay won silver, while Luke de Greeff and Tynan Gannett secured bronze in the men's division. Meanwhile, for Mexico, Antonio Lares and Carlos Andres Ayala claimed silver, and Susana Torres and Abril Flores earned bronze.

Dominating the event were American teams, who took home both gold medals, underscoring the exceptional skill level of North American beach volleyball athletes. Supported by a USD 252,000 contribution from FIVB Volleyball Empowerment, the Canadian teams were guided by Serbian coach Srdjan Veckov for the women and Josh Nichol for the men. On the other hand, Mexican teams, backed by USD 1,648,000 in support which included equipment, honed their skills under Brazilian coaches Ricardo Santos and Reis Castro.

This particular NORCECA Tour event featured participation from 32 teams representing 12 federations, reflecting both the intense competitive spirit and international collaboration prevalent in beach volleyball. The subsequent stop of the tour is scheduled for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from May 7 to 10, promising more thrilling and competitive beach volleyball encounters.
