Cruz & Brasher, Ahman & Hellvig Reclaim Top Spots in FIVB Rankings

In an exciting kick-off to the 2026 season, the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour's Joao Pessoa Elite tournament brought about major changes in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Rankings. Dominating the competition in Brazil, the American pair of Kristen Cruz and Taryn Brasher leapfrogged their Brazilian competitors to reclaim the top position in the women's rankings. They earned 1,200 points, resulting in a net gain of 740, and now boast a total of 8,940 points, securing their place at the top once more.

On the men's side, Swedish talents David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig also soared to number one, surpassing Anders Mol and Christian Sorum to reach the top ranking for the first time since April 2025. They clinched this achievement with an impressive performance, adding 520 points to bring their total to 8,280.

Brazil's Evandro Oliveira and Arthur Mariano Lanci climbed to third place with strong play, while France's Remi Bassereau Daubas and Calvin Aye surged from 17th to an impressive 11th after taking home a silver medal. The new American team of Taylor Crabb and Andrew Benesh entered the rankings in position 153, highlighting the tournament's high stakes and the ever-shifting nature of beach volleyball standings.
