Spanish Olympians Daniela Álvarez and Tania Moreno delivered thrilling performances at the Beach Pro Tour Montréal Elite16, securing two impressive comeback victories on Thursday. These crucial wins earned them a place in the elimination rounds and showcased their growing momentum on the international stage.
Competing at Montréal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau, the pair opened their day with a hard-fought win against Swiss sisters Anouk and Zoé Vergé-Dépré. After dropping the first set 17-21, the Spaniards bounced back to take the next two sets 21-16 and 15-9. Later, they mirrored this pattern by overcoming another early deficit against Austria’s Ronja and Dorina Klinger, winning 17-21, 21-13, 15-10.
With these victories, Álvarez and Moreno are assured of a spot in the knockout bracket. A win in their final pool match against Canadian wildcards Marie-Alex Bélanger and Lea Monkhouse on Friday could send them directly to the quarterfinals.
