Makhno Twins Dominate Ios Beach Volleyball with Back-to-Back Wins

The Ukrainian beach volleyball duo, Inna and Iryna Makhno, have continued their impressive run on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour by securing their second consecutive gold medal, this time at the Ios Futures event in Greece. Their remarkable form follows a previous title win at the Krakow Futures.

Seeded third, the Makhno sisters demonstrated strong resilience. Despite an early pool-stage loss to France’s Saofe Duval and Marilu Pally, they bounced back with a convincing win in the semifinal rematch. In a tightly contested final, the twins emerged victorious against the Greek pair Elisavet Triantafillidi and Dimitra Manavi with a scoreline of 2-1 (21-17, 19-21, 18-16).

Milestones for Other Teams

  • Triantafillidi and Manavi’s appearance in the final marked their first finals berth on the Beach Pro Tour, adding a significant achievement for the home team.
  • France’s Duval and Pally took the bronze medal after a solid win over Japan’s Sakura Ito and Mayu Sawame.

Men’s Tournament Highlights

On the men’s side, the Belgian brothers Gilles and Louis Vandecaveye captured their first gold on the tour. They remained undefeated throughout the tournament, culminating in a decisive win over Spain’s Daniel Moreno and Roberto Sanfelix in the final. This event also marked the Spanish duo’s first medal.

Austria's Robin Seidl and Alexander Huber rounded out the podium with a third-place finish, adding to their consistent season performance.
