Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway have set an impressive benchmark by advancing to their 23rd consecutive semifinal appearance on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. This remarkable streak continued at the prestigious Elite16 event held in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
Currently ranked No. 1 in the world, Mol and Sørum battled through two demanding three-set matches against American pairs—Chaim Schalk/James Shaw and Andy Benesh/Miles Partain—in the elimination rounds on Saturday. With this achievement, they have maintained a perfect semifinal record in Elite events since August 2022.
They now prepare to face Czech duo Ondřej Perušič and David Schweiner, who enter the semifinals after strong showings on home turf. The Czech team secured their place by defeating squads from Germany and Qatar in straight sets—marking a return to form after missing the semis in Ostrava last year.
On the other side of the bracket, Swedish Olympic gold medalists David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig are showcasing exceptional form. They've reached the semifinals without dropping a single set. Their next opponents are Poland’s Michal Bryl and Bartosz Łosiak, who likewise remain unbeaten in the tournament.
