Paris Hosts Vibrant Beach Volleyball Festival Celebrating Olympic Legacy

Paris recently hosted a vibrant beach volleyball festival that reignited the Olympic spirit from the 2024 Games. From July 25 to 27, the area around Paris City Hall transformed into a bustling center of sport and culture, welcoming thousands of fans, athletes, and guests. The event was a collaborative initiative by the FIVB, the City of Paris, and the French Volleyball Federation.

As a key part of Paris’s commitment to preserving the Olympic legacy, the festival extended the summer’s beach volleyball activities, with three courts set up near City Hall in daily use since July 12. These courts will remain accessible until August 20, offering locals and tourists the opportunity to experience the energy of the sport.

Festival Highlights

  • Open matches for all skill levels
  • Introductory sessions for beginners
  • A 4×4 community tournament featuring 32 local teams
  • Exhibition matches and appearances by Olympians from the Paris 2024 Games

The festival also integrated an artistic component. Olympic artist Slaven Dizdarević led a collective creative experience, encouraging participants to create over 100 individual artworks using recycled volleyball equipment. These pieces will be combined into a single installation, symbolizing the union of sport and art.

This high-energy celebration reaffirmed Paris’s goal of supporting community engagement and highlighting the inclusive nature of beach volleyball. With enthusiastic public participation and backing from global organizations, the sport continues to thrive as a symbol of summer and Olympic legacy in the French capital.
