Scampoli & Bianchi Gear Up for Tlaxcala Beach Volleyball Showdown

The 2026 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour is set to take place in Tlaxcala, Mexico, a location recognized for previously hosting the inaugural event in 2022 and the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in 2023. This makes Tlaxcala a significant spot for beach volleyball.

Italian athletes Claudia Scampoli and Giada Bianchi are marked as top contenders in this year's Tlaxcala Challenge. They have recently gained attention by securing a fourth-place finish at the Joao Pessoa Elite tournament in Brazil. Since forming their team last year, they have maintained commendable momentum with two fourth-place finishes in major events.

The Tlaxcala Challenge is an essential event in the 2026 beach volleyball calendar, commencing with qualification rounds on Wednesday. The tournament will host a 32-team main draw per gender. This will include eight teams advancing from the qualifiers to join 24 teams that are directly seeded. The competition will feature a modified pool play structure that leads to elimination rounds, which progress towards the quarterfinals, semifinals, and ultimately the medal matches, set to conclude on Sunday.

Spectators can anticipate outstanding performances from athletes such as the United States' Sara Hughes and Allysa Batenhorst, China's two-time Olympian Xia Xinyi, and past Olympians from Lithuania and Paraguay. Additionally, emerging talents who have previously medaled in this year's Beach Pro Tour Futures events will be showcased during the tournament.

Fans of beach volleyball can view the Tlaxcala Challenge matches live via the Beach Volleyball World YouTube channel, offering an opportunity to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and action directly from Tlaxcala.
