Schoon and Konink Secure Spot in Türkiye's Beach Volleyball Round of 16

Raisa Schoon and Mila Konink have advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2025 Alanya Challenge on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. Held at Türkiye’s Beach Sports Center, this milestone is especially notable given that it is only their second event competing together, as Konink steps in for Schoon’s regular partner, Katja Stam, who is currently injured.

In Thursday’s matches, the Dutch duo remained undefeated in Pool E, securing hard-fought victories in both of their matches:

  • They overcame Lithuanian Olympians Monika Paulikiene and Aine Raupelyte in three sets: 2-1 (21-17, 16-21, 15-8).
  • They then rallied to beat Australian medalist Taliqua Clancy and her partner Jana Milutinovic: 2-1 (17-21, 21-15, 15-13).

Finishing first in their pool allows Schoon and Konink to bypass the Round of 24 and move directly into the Round of 16.

Additionally, seven other teams have also topped their respective pools to advance:

  • Anouk and Zoé Vergé-Dépré (Switzerland)
  • Valentina Gottardi and Reka Orsi Toth (Italy)
  • Deahna Kraft and Xolani Hodel (USA)
  • Aline Chamereau and Clémence Vieira (France)
  • Vitória Rodrigues and Hegeile Almeida (Brazil)
  • Claudia Scampoli and Giada Bianchi (Italy)
  • Yeva Serdiuk and Daria Romaniuk (Ukraine)

The tournament continues Friday with the Round of 24 and Round of 16. The quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, and the medal matches will conclude the event on Sunday. The Alanya Challenge remains a crucial early event on the 2025 edition of the Beach Pro Tour.
