Swiss Teams Dominate Geneva Beach Volleyball Futures

The 2025 Geneva Futures tournament witnessed a rare and impressive feat: a complete Swiss sweep of the men's podium. All three medals were claimed by home teams, showcasing Switzerland’s growing dominance in international beach volleyball.

Yves Haussener and 18-year-old Julian Friedli, the tournament's top-seeded pair, went undefeated in five matches to secure the gold. Their semifinal victory over Norway’s Nils Gunnar Ringoen and Even Stray Aas came in straight sets, while the final saw them narrowly defeat their compatriots Florian Breer and Luc Fluckiger in a nail-biting three-set match (20-22, 21-16, 15-11). This win is the duo’s second gold and fourth career podium on the Beach Pro Tour.

Breer and Fluckiger, seeded 12th, turned heads by advancing to their first-ever final. They overcame fellow Swiss players Adrian Heidrich and Jonathan Jordan in the semifinal round, ultimately securing silver. Heidrich and Jordan bounced back to win the bronze medal match against the Norwegians (29-27, 21-15), adding a second career podium following their recent Spiez Futures win.
