Brazilian duo Carol Salgado and Rebecca Cavalcanti are set to cap off an impressive 2025 season at the final stop of the Beach Pro Tour’s Elite16 series in Itapema, Brazil, taking place from December 3–7. This tournament marks the conclusion of the tour and will be a significant opportunity for teams to secure valuable ranking points.
Fresh off a bronze medal performance at the 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship in Adelaide, Carol and Rebecca now share second place in the FIVB World Rankings with compatriots Thâmela Coradello and Victoria Lopes. Both Brazilian pairs are just 200 points behind the top-ranked U.S. team of Taryn Brasher and Kristen Nuss.
Carol and Rebecca’s 2025 performances on home soil have been notably consistent:
- Gold medal – Rio de Janeiro
- Silver medal – Brasília
- Fourth place – João Pessoa
With Itapema marking Brazil’s fifth tour stop of the season, the team’s consistency has established them as frontrunners heading into the final event.
The competition in Itapema isn't limited to home teams. Numerous international duos from countries such as:
- Ukraine
- Italy
- Puerto Rico
- Japan
- Lithuania
– all of whom competed in Adelaide – are confirmed to participate. These teams, along with additional Brazilian pairs, will be pushing to improve their rankings before the off-season break.
On the men’s side, Olympians Evandro Gonçalves and Arthur Lanci aim to finish strong after placing fifth in Adelaide. Their previous season results include:
- Gold medal – João Pessoa
- Silver medal – Brasília
The Itapema Elite16 begins with qualification matches on Wednesday. This will be followed by pool play and elimination rounds, culminating in the medal matches on Sunday. With world ranking spots and season-closing momentum at stake, the Brazilian leg promises thrilling action.
