Ukrainian Duo Breaks Into Top 10 Beach Volleyball Rankings

Ukrainian beach volleyball team Maryna Hladun and Tetiana Lazarenko have made history by entering the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Rankings top 10 for the first time. This breakthrough comes after a series of impressive performances, most notably their victory at the Warmia Mazury Challenge in Poland, which earned them 800 ranking points.

The duo now holds a total of 4,380 points, moving them up from 14th to a tie for 9th with the American pair Teegan Van Gunst and Kimberly Hildreth. As a result of this leap, Brazil’s Vitoria Rodrigues & Hegeile Almeida and Finland’s Taru Lahti-Liukkonen & Niina Ahtiainen have exited the top 10.

Current Women's Top Three

  • 1st: Thamela Coradello & Victoria Lopes (Brazil)
  • 2nd: Terese Cannon & Megan Kraft (USA)
  • 3rd: Svenja Müller & Cinja Tillmann (Germany)

Significant moves were also noted elsewhere in the rankings. Germany's Linda Bock & Louisa Lippmann climbed a remarkable 61 places to reach 75th after finishing second in Poland. Meanwhile, the French duo Clemence Vieira & Aline Chamereau reached their highest ranking ever at 12th place.

Highlights from the Men’s Competition

  • Bartosz Losiak & Michal Bryl (Poland) returned to the top 4 after nearly two years.
  • David Åhman & Jonatan Hellvig (Sweden) ascended to 2nd, surpassing Argentina's Capogrosso brothers.
  • Anders Mol & Christian Sørum (Norway) continue to dominate in 1st place.
  • Ehlers & Wickler (Germany) rejoined the top 10 after a quarterfinal finish.
  • Krattiger & Dillier (Switzerland) advanced from 71st to 48th after their first Beach Pro Tour title.

These dynamic shifts underscore the competitiveness of the current season as teams race for ranking points in the lead-up to Olympic qualification and other major tournaments.
