Brazilian Duo Carol Solberg & Rebecca Cavalcanti Soar to the Top of Beach Volleyball Rankings

Carol Solberg and Rebecca Cavalcanti have risen to the pinnacle of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking following their impressive gold medal win at the Itapema Elite16 stop on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour.

The Brazilian duo secured 1,200 ranking points with their victory in Itapema, giving them a total of 8,440 points—a narrow 200-point lead over fellow Brazilians Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes, who captured bronze at the same event.

This marks the very first time Solberg and Cavalcanti have topped the rankings together. While Solberg reached number one earlier in 2024 with Barbara Seixas, Cavalcanti had previously peaked at second place in a partnership with Agatha Bednarczuk.

The previous leaders, Americans Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth, dropped to third after not competing in Itapema. Their recent silver medal at the World Championship wasn’t enough to maintain their top spot in the absence of additional points in Brazil.
