Cottafava & Dal Corso Break into Top 25 in Beach Volleyball World Rankings

Italy's dynamic beach volleyball team, Samuele Cottafava and Gianluca Dal Corso, have jumped into the top 25 in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Rankings for the first time. Their rise is due to a gold win at the Volleyball Beach Pro Tour Nayarit Challenge, which awarded them 800 vital ranking points.

This breakthrough is a landmark achievement for Cottafava and Dal Corso, surpassing their previous best of 29th place, set last December. Their strong showing in Mexico earned them a net gain of 340 points, bringing their total to 4,460 and boosting them from 30th to 25th place.

The Nayarit Challenge was also beneficial for other players. The Dutch duo, Leon Luini and Matthew Immers, advanced 24 positions to 69th place, while Israel's Eylon Elazar and Kevin Cuzmiciov climbed to 26th place, gaining seven spots after securing bronze in Nayarit and before in Bhubaneswar.

Ranking shifts continued with the expiration of the Quintana Roo Elite points, causing higher rankings adjustments. Argentina's Tomas and Nicolas Capogrosso fell from the top 10, while France's Remi Bassereau Daubas and Calvin Aye rose to eighth place. Germany’s Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickle made a comeback to the top 10 rankings.

In the women's FIVB rankings, China's Yan Xu and Xia Xinyi surged 22 places to 61st after their gold medal triumph in Nayarit. Brazilian silver medalists Verena Figueira and Thainara Feitosa shot up 43 places to 77th, and the American team of Madelyne Anderson and Alaina Chacon reached 143rd following their recent bronze victory.

These shifts highlight the fierce competition and quick changes in beach volleyball world rankings as athletes push for success on the sand.
