Czech Duo Svozilova and Štochlová Advance to Alanya Beach Volleyball Quarterfinals

Czech beach volleyball team Marketa Svozilova and Marie-Sára Štochlová have earned a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Beach Pro Tour Alanya Challenge after two strong victories on Friday.

After finishing third in their group, the Czech duo advanced to the Round of 24, where they defeated the American team of Kimberly Hildreth and Keegan Van Gunst in straight sets (21-19, 21-16). Their winning streak continued with another straight-sets triumph over the Netherlands’ Raisa Schoon and Mila Konink (21-15, 21-14), sealing their place in the top eight.

The tournament is taking place at the Beach Sports Center in Alanya, Türkiye, and features quarterfinalists from seven different nations. Importantly, Svozilova and Štochlová are one of just two teams that advanced from the Round of 24 to reach this stage—marking a significant achievement in their Beach Pro Tour journey.

Štochlová, an Olympian for the Czech Republic in Paris, began partnering with Svozilova earlier this year. Their collaboration has shown steady progress:

  • 9th place finish in Yucatán
  • 5th place finish in Xiamen
  • Now competing for a semifinal spot in Alanya

Their upcoming quarterfinal match will be a challenging one against Italy's strong pairing of Valentina Gottardi and Reka Orsi Toth, who have remained unbeaten so far in the tournament.

The Alanya Challenge continues through the weekend, with the semifinals scheduled for Saturday and final medal matches on Sunday.
