Lithuanian beach volleyball stars Monika Paulikiene and Aine Raupelyte have claimed their first Beach Pro Tour gold medal at the Nuvali Challenge in Santa Rosa, Philippines. This significant achievement follows their earlier successes this year, including securing silver medals in Tlaxcala and Xiamen.
The duo, top-seeded in the women's category, displayed exceptional skills after an initial challenge, maintaining an unbeaten streak in subsequent matches. During the semifinals, they overcame the Netherlands' Emi van Driel and Mila Konink with a commanding 2-0 victory. In the gold medal match, Paulikiene and Raupelyte decisively beat USA's Madelyne Anderson and Alaina Chacon in straight sets, 21-12, 21-11. Notably, Raupelyte’s seven kill blocks and 16 spike kills were crucial to their win.
Anderson and Chacon secured the silver medal, marking their second Beach Pro Tour medal this season after winning bronze in Nayarit. Van Driel and Konink earned the bronze medal, achieving their first podium finish on the Tour.
A total of 56 women's teams from 24 federations participated, underscoring the global excitement and competitiveness of beach volleyball. The next Beach Pro Tour stop is set for Alanya, Türkiye, from June 10 to 14.
