Mexico and Puerto Rico delivered standout performances at the third stop of the 2025 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour in Puerto Cortes, Honduras, each securing gold medals and showcasing the success of their development programs through support from the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment initiative.
Mexico's Medal Haul
Mexico emerged as the most decorated nation at the event, claiming three out of six available medals. The men’s gold was captured by the 14th-seeded duo Antonio Lares and Carlos Andres Ayala. They triumphed over the USA’s Troy Field and Ryan Wilcox in straight sets (21-17, 21-18). In the semifinals, they upset their top-seeded compatriots Miguel Sarabia and Jorman Osuna.

Puerto Rico's Continued Dominance

Seventeen women’s and nineteen men’s teams from 13 countries across North, Central America and the Caribbean participated. The strong showings by Mexico and Puerto Rico reflect the tangible benefits of the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment program, which provides training and equipment support to developing beach volleyball nations.

The fourth leg of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour will be held in Madero, Mexico, from July 11 to 13, continuing a promising season for both Mexico and Puerto Rico.
