The Moldovan and Norwegian beach volleyball teams have recently celebrated notable victories at the BVA Tour in Balikesir, Turkiye, and the NEVZA Tour in Oddanesand, Norway. These achievements underscore the significant influence of the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment program on national teams.
In Turkiye, Moldovan athletes Ana Nicolaev and Polina Voleanin, along with Egor Dobcis and Maxim Korsakov, led the way at the BVA Beach Volleyball Balkan Tour. Both pairs secured gold medals in the women's and men's categories, respectively. This success is partly due to a $42,000 empowerment grant from the FIVB aimed at boosting the coaching expertise of national teams.
Meanwhile, in Norway, Norwegian men's teams also excelled at the NEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour. Even Aas and Mathias Berntsen clinched the gold medal, Jonah Kjemperud and Sebastian Kjemperud secured silver, while Marius Pande and Magnus Helgerud took home bronze. In the women’s competition, Norwegians Sofia Mol and Julia Thelle emerged victorious. The Norwegian Volleyball Federation received $252,000 in empowerment funds for coach support, which has likely contributed to the elevated performance of these teams.
These victories highlight the positive impact of the FIVB's Volleyball Empowerment initiative, which focuses on fostering the growth and success of beach volleyball athletes. The ongoing support is concentrated on improving technical skills and coaching expertise within member countries, helping them achieve broader competitive success on regional and international stages.
