Olympic champions Ana Patricia Ramos and Eduarda "Duda" Santos Lisboa displayed their championship mettle as they surged into the quarterfinals of the Beach Pro Tour 2025 Elite16 in Brasília. The Brazilian duo, ranked 10th, emerged victorious in a thrilling all-Brazilian showdown against the top-seeded team of Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes.
The match was a dramatic three-set encounter (21-18, 19-21, 15-13), where Ana Patricia and Duda stayed resilient against Thamela’s impressive 27-point performance. Unforced errors from Coradello and Lopes ultimately shifted momentum, allowing the Olympic champions to seize control and deliver the win.
In the quarterfinals, Ana Patricia and Duda will face Austria’s Dorina and Ronja Klinger. The Klinger sisters reached this stage after an impressive run of their own, defeating:
- American sixth seeds Kelly Cheng and Molly Shaw in a tight three-set match
- Brazilians Carol Solberg and Rebecca Cavalcanti in straight sets
Despite their loss to the Austrians, Carol and Rebecca continue to the quarterfinals as one of the two best round-of-12 runners-up.
Another highlight came from the unseeded Dutch team of Emi van Driel and Wies Bekhuis. Ranked 23rd, they stunned Paris 2024 bronze medalists Tanja Hüberli and Leona Kernen (seeded 9th), followed by a dramatic comeback win against Italy’s Valentina Gottardi and Reka Orsi Toth. Their quarterfinal challenge comes against the third-seeded Americans Megan Kraft and Terese Cannon.
Canadian Olympic silver medalists Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson continued their strong form as they swept Italy’s Claudia Scampoli and Giada Bianchi. Meanwhile, second-seeded Americans Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth engaged in a fierce three-set victory over Swiss sisters Anouk and Zoé Vergé-Dépré. Nuss and Kloth are now set to face Gottardi and Orsi Toth in the quarters.
