Spain's Izuzquiza & Tania Dominate Alanya for First Pro Tour Gold

Spain's emerging beach volleyball talents, Sofia Izuzquiza and Tania Moreno, have secured their first gold at the Beach Pro Tour Challenge in Alanya, Turkey. The dynamic pair delivered an impressive performance throughout the tournament, dropping just one set in six matches. Their triumphs included a thrilling comeback in the semifinals against Switzerland's Joana Mader and Leona Kernen, followed by a decisive 2-0 win over the USA’s Savannah Cory and Devon Newberry in the final.

This Challenge event in Alanya featured 48 women's teams representing 21 federations. The second-seeded American pair, Cory and Newberry, advanced to the finals without losing a match but were ultimately surpassed by the skilled Spaniards in the final showdown.

Switzerland's Mader and Kernen earned the bronze medal by defeating Paraguay's Olympians, Giuliana Poletti Corrales and Michelle Valiente, following their semifinal loss to Izuzquiza and Moreno. The tournament in Alanya effectively showcased the increasing competitiveness and dynamic nature of international beach volleyball.

The Beach Pro Tour action will continue at its next Challenge stop in Shangluo, China, set for July 22 to 26, as the beach volleyball season promises more exciting matches and the emergence of new talent.
