Jacob Holting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson made Swedish beach volleyball history by securing gold at the 2025 Malmo Futures—the first Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour event ever held in Sweden.
Dominating on Home Ground
The Swedish pair exhibited exceptional form throughout the tournament, winning all five of their matches without dropping a single set. They clinched the title convincingly with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-17) win over Germany’s Momme Lorenz and Tilo Rietschel in the final. Their semifinal match echoed this dominance, as they defeated Spain's Alvaro Viera and Antonio Saucedo 21-15, 21-11.
A Growing Medal Collection
This triumph marks the duo’s fifth medal on the Beach Pro Tour, adding to an already impressive resume that includes:
- Two golds at Challenge-level events
- Two Futures podiums in 2024
- The U22 European championship title
Path to the Podium
The Malmo Futures drew 27 men’s teams from 16 nations. Spain’s Viera and Saucedo secured the bronze medal following a withdrawal by Swedish Olympic champions David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig in the semifinals due to injury. That withdrawal propelled Germany to the final and granted Spain a spot on the podium.

The Malmo event forms part of the Beach Pro Tour, a premier stage for both developing and elite beach volleyball talent. Upcoming Futures tournaments will take place in:
