Ukraine’s Maryna Hladun and Tetiana Lazarenko achieved a stunning victory at the Yucatan Challenge on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour by defeating Brazil’s top-seeded Carol Solberg and Rebecca Cavalcanti to win Pool A.
The 16th-seeded Ukrainian team delivered an impressive 2-0 (21-13, 21-15) win, showcasing outstanding service play. Hladun recorded six aces, while Lazarenko contributed four aces, leading them to a direct entry into the eighthfinals.
Meanwhile, Carol and Rebecca, along with Italy’s Reka Orsi Toth and Giada Bianchi, who finished third in the pool, advanced to the sixteenthfinals. Other teams securing pool victories included:
- Spain’s Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno
- Austria’s Dorina and Ronja Klinger
- United States’ Julia Scoles and Lexy Denaburg
The knockout stage is set to begin on Friday, where teams will compete for a place in the next round.
