Australian and Japanese Teams Triumph in Asian Beach Volleyball Tour

The recent AVC Asian Beach Volleyball Tour event held in Yunyang, China, highlighted the impressive performances of beach volleyball teams from Australia and Japan. Both nations achieved notable successes, showcasing their competitive strength in the sport. Australian teams particularly excelled, winning a total of three medals during the tournament.

The Australian women's team, comprised of Taliqua Clancy and Stefanie Fejes, secured a gold medal, marking their second consecutive top finish on the tour. In the men's category, Mark Nicolaidis & Izac Carracher and D’Artagnan Potts & Jack Pearse clinched second and third place respectively, with Potts and Pearse overcoming a semifinal setback to claim bronze.

Japan also celebrated success with Asami Shiba and Reika Murakami earning a bronze in the women's event, while China saw Jiang Kaiyue & Zhou Mingli claim silver. On the men's side, Iran's Abolhassan Khakizadeh & AmirAli GhalehNovi captured the gold medal.

These achievements were supported by the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment program, which provides financial and training assistance to several national teams, benefitting the beach volleyball departments of both Australia and Japan.

The Yunyang event included participation from 24 men's teams and 22 women's teams across 15 federations. Fans of the sport have much to look forward to with the next event scheduled in Doha, Qatar, from October 14 to 17, as well as the 2026 AVC Beach Volleyball Asian Championships set for September 2 to 6 in Shangluo, China.
