Swiss Duo Annique & Menia Shine with Silver at Geneva Beach Volleyball Futures

In an exhilarating match at the Geneva Beach Volleyball Futures, Swiss athletes Annique Niederhauser and Menia Bentele captured a silver medal, thrilling local fans. This win is their second Beach Pro Tour medal, following their initial silver at the Messina Futures last year. They stormed into the finals with a decisive 2-0 victory over Estonia's Eva Liisa Kuivonen and Liisa-Lotta Jurgenson in the semifinals, effectively avenging their sole loss in the tournament.

The competition was intense, with 25 women's teams from 11 countries participating. The US team of Torrey Van Winden and Lindsey Sparks snagged the gold, achieving their first Beach Pro Tour gold after previous podium places. This American duo bested Annique and Menia in the final with a 2-1 comeback.

Tambre Nobles and Clara Stowell, fellow Americans, earned the bronze. They triumphed over their Estonian opponents in a demanding bronze medal clash, marking their inaugural Beach Pro Tour podium finish.

The Swiss beach volleyball team's success is backed by significant financial support from the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment program. This assistance, amounting to USD 336,000, aims to refine the team's skills. Polish coach Damian Wojtasik brings his expertise to Switzerland's women's national teams, boosting their performances.
