Brasher and Nuss Triumph in California: A Home Victory for American Beach Volleyball

At the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite16 in Newport Beach, California, Taryn Brasher and Kristen Nuss achieved a significant victory by winning gold. This triumph marked their third title of the 2025 season and their first international win on American sand—an important milestone in their already impressive campaign.

This Elite16 tournament was notable as it was the first high-level global beach volleyball event in the U.S. since 2018. American teams made a strong showing:

  • Five of the eight quarterfinal spots were secured by U.S. duos
  • Three American teams reached the semifinals

The final was an all-American affair, with Brasher and Nuss defeating Julia Donlin and Lexy Denaburg in straight sets (21-15, 21-14) to claim the gold.

Brazil’s Olympic champions, Eduarda ‘Duda’ Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos, prevented a complete American podium sweep by claiming bronze. They beat Terese Cannon and Megan Kraft in the third-place match.

Brasher and Nuss have now finished on the podium in five out of seven Elite16 tournaments this season, winning three of them. Their consistent performances continue to elevate their status in the international beach volleyball scene.

The excitement rolls on with a Challenge-level event in Nuvali, Philippines next week. The Elite16 action resumes from October 22–26 in Cape Town, South Africa.
