Brazilian beach volleyball legend Alison Cerutti has officially announced his retirement after an illustrious career spanning more than two decades. Famous for his elite blocking skills and dominance at the net, Cerutti is stepping away from professional competition at the age of 39.
He has scheduled three final appearances to mark his retirement:
- Two events in the American AVP League
- One event on the Brazilian Tour
His farewell event is set to take place between October 1–5 at Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Copacabana Beach, where he achieved Olympic glory by winning gold at the Rio 2016 Games alongside Bruno Schmidt.
Standing at 2.03 meters, Cerutti earned the nickname "The Mammoth" for his intimidating net presence. His career accolades include:
- Olympic Gold Medal at Rio 2016 (with Bruno Schmidt)
- Olympic Silver Medal at London 2012 (with Emanuel Rego)
- FIVB World Championship Titles in 2011 (with Emanuel Rego) and 2015 (with Bruno Schmidt)
In total, Cerutti competed in 152 international events, reaching the podium 61 times and collecting:
- 28 gold medals
- 18 silver medals
- 15 bronze medals
Throughout his career, he represented Brazil in three Olympic Games and partnered with several top-tier players, including Emanuel Rego, Harley Marques, Bruno Schmidt, and Álvaro Filho. His final international showing took place in April 2023 during a Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Challenge event in Brazil.
