Brazilian Duo Carol and Rebecca Seize Top Spot in Global Beach Volleyball Rankings

Brazilian beach volleyball stars Carol Solberg and Rebecca Cavalcanti have climbed to the top of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking following a gold medal win at the 2025 Itapema Elite event. Their triumph earned them 1,200 points, lifting their total to 8,440 and granting them a narrow 200-point lead over fellow Brazilians Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes.

This marks the first time Solberg and Cavalcanti have achieved the number one ranking as a team. Notably, Solberg reached the top earlier in 2025 with former teammate Bárbara Seixas. For Cavalcanti, this latest achievement surpasses her previous career best of second place, earned alongside Agatha Bednarczuk.

Shifts in the Women's Rankings

  • Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher of the USA, who led the rankings after a silver at the 2025 World Championships, dropped to third due to their absence in the Itapema event.
  • Latvia’s Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova, reigning world champions, hold on to fourth place.
  • Brazilian Olympic champions Ana Patricia Ramos and Eduarda “Duda” Lisboa remain firm in fifth.

Men's Ranking Highlights

On the men’s side, French duo Elouan Chouikh and Joadel Gardoque stunned the competition with a surprise gold in Itapema, jumping 11 places to rank 37th — their career best so far.

  1. Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway maintain their top spot.
  2. Swedish Olympic and world champions David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig are now tied for second.

As the 2026 season nears and Olympic qualification intensifies, teams are under increased pressure to adapt and excel in every tournament. These updated world rankings provide crucial insight into which squads are peaking at the right time.
