The Dutch beach volleyball team, consisting of Lisa Luini and Benthe Essink, recently triumphed at the Sibiu Futures event, part of the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour in Romania. Their debut was spectacular, achieving victory with an unbeaten streak that saw them reach the top of the podium.

During their journey to victory, Luini and Essink faced the Slovakian duo of Barbora Tokosova and Martina Terenova in the semifinals, emerging victorious with a commanding 2-0 set win. The finals were a nail-biter where they narrowly defeated Spain's Adriana Serrano Ferro and Marta Carro, securing the gold medal with another 2-0 set victory.

This win is monumental for Benthe Essink, only 19 years old, as it marks her first podium finish on the Beach Pro Tour. Luini celebrated yet another gold in her career, bringing her total medal tally to five, with two of them being gold.

Spain’s Serrano and Carro also celebrated their achievement, earning their first Tour medal as a team with a silver finish. Moreover, the host nation was not left out of the podium as Adriana-Maria Burtea and Beata Vaida of Romania claimed the bronze medal, marking a successful return to international competition after a lengthy pause.

A total of 21 women's pairs from 13 federations participated in the Sibiu Futures. The excitement for beach volleyball fans continues as the next event is set to take place on Laginha Beach, Cabo Verde, from July 23 to 26, promising yet another display of top-tier beach volleyball action.
