Dutch Duo Dominates Malmo Futures with Third Consecutive Podium Finish

Dutch beach volleyball stars Sam van der Loo and Mees Sengers have continued their stellar performance by claiming the gold medal at the Malmo Futures, part of Volleyball World's Beach Pro Tour. This triumph marks their third consecutive podium finish in the series. The event in Malmö, Sweden, featured 26 men's teams from 14 federations.

Throughout the competition, Van der Loo and Sengers demonstrated skill and determination, achieving a 5-1 win-loss record. In the semifinals, they overcame a one-set deficit to defeat Sweden's Theodor Grahn and Linus Isaksson with a score of 2-1. The final was a thrilling encounter against Sweden’s Jacob Holting Nilsson and Alfred Mjornheim, where the Dutch team clinched victory in another exciting three-setter.

Holting Nilsson and Mjornheim impressed by securing silver on their home soil, marking a successful debut for Mjornheim on the tour. The Swedish team remained unbeaten until the final, showcasing grit in four challenging three-set matches.

Norwegian siblings Sebastian and Jonah Kjemperud earned bronze, rebounding from an earlier loss to defeat Grahn and Isaksson in the third-place playoff. This win gave the Kjemperuds their second straight medal on the Beach Pro Tour following their success at the Wuhan Futures.

The Malmo Futures once again underscored the competitive nature of beach volleyball globally. The Futures series next heads to Laginha Beach, Cabo Verde, from July 23 to 26, promising more high-level beach volleyball excitement.
