Excitement Builds as Teams Prepare for 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball Championships

Anticipation is building as the 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships prepares for its official tournament draw on Thursday, October 10. Held in Adelaide, Australia, this draw will define the pool-stage matchups for the 96 qualified teams—comprised of 48 men’s and 48 women’s pairs.

Slated to run from November 14 to 23, this marks the 15th edition of the championship and notably, the first time the event will take place in Australia. It also represents the largest event ever organized under the auspices of the Asian Volleyball Confederation.

Competition Format

The tournament follows traditional FIVB structure with the following features:

  • 12 round-robin pools each for men’s and women’s divisions
  • Pool stage advancing rules include:
    • Top two teams from each pool advance directly to the Round of 32
    • Four best third-placed teams per division also move ahead automatically
    • Remaining eight third-placed teams compete in a “lucky loser” round for four final knockout spots

Global Reach and Coverage

The competition will see 216 total matches—equally split between men’s and women’s divisions—across ten days. Athletes from all six continents are participating, making this a truly global showcase of elite beach volleyball talent.
