French and Swiss Teams Triumph at Alanya Beach Volleyball Challenge

French and Swiss beach volleyball teams delivered standout performances at the Alanya Challenge, a prominent event in the 2025 Beach Pro Tour. Hosted in Türkiye, the tournament welcomed 97 teams representing 25 countries and underscored the growing impact of the FIVB Empowerment initiative on national team success.

Women's Competition Highlights

Swiss duo Anouk and Zoe Verge-Depre clinched their first Beach Pro Tour gold together after an undefeated run through six matches. They triumphed in a close 2-1 final against Italy's Valentina Gottardi and Reka Orsi Toth, marking their third consecutive podium finish—a strong statement for the new Olympic cycle.

France’s Clemence Vieira and Aline Chamereau made an impressive journey from the qualifiers to the podium. After falling to the Swiss sisters in the semifinals, they secured bronze as Italy’s Claudia Scampoli and Giada Bianchi withdrew due to injury.

Men's Competition Highlights

On the men’s side, French pair Teo Rotar and Arnaud Gauthier-Rat earned silver, following an impressive six-match winning streak that took them to the final. This marks their second consecutive medal after taking bronze in Xiamen. They were topped by Czech world champions Ondrej Perusic and David Schweiner, who captured gold in straight sets. Brazil’s George Wanderley and Saymon Barbosa earned bronze, the latter achieving his first podium on the Beach Pro Tour.

FIVB Empowerment Program’s Role

The FIVB Empowerment program played a pivotal role in these performances:

  • Switzerland has benefited from $366,000 in coaching support.
  • France received over $1 million in aid for coaching and equipment.

These strategic investments are translating into consistent top-tier performances on the sand.
