International Volleyball Stars Triumph in Germany and Netherlands

Beach volleyball’s elite showcased their dominance over the weekend at national events in both Germany and the Netherlands, reaffirming their roles as contenders on the international stage.

Victories in Germany

The second leg of the 2025 German Beach Tour in Düsseldorf delivered powerful performances from top-ranked duos. In the women's division:

  • Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann, current FIVB World Ranking leaders, claimed the title with a 2-0 win (21-18, 21-16) over Sandra Ittlinger and Tabea Schwarz.
  • Bronze went to Nele Barber & Melanie Gernert and Anna-Chiara Reformat & Chenoa Christ, who tied for third.

On the men's side:

  • Olympic silver medalists Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler secured gold with a straight-sets victory (26-24, 21-12) against Latvia's Kristians Fokerots and Martins Plavins.
  • Third place was shared by German pairs Niklas Held & Hennes Jorge Nissen and Robin Sowa & Jonas Reinhardt.

The Netherlands Opens Eredivisie Beach Series

In Nijmegen, the Dutch Eredivisie Beach Series began with local stars leading the pack. For the men:

  • Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot, ranked world No. 3, triumphed over Alexander Brouwer and Steven van de Velde in straight sets (21-15, 21-19).
  • Dirk Boehle and Tom Sonneville secured the bronze medal match.

Among the women:

  • Top seeds Wies Bekhuis and Emi van Driel mounted a comeback to defeat Nigella Negenman and Tess Spaansen 2-1 (19-21, 21-13, 15-7).
  • Marly Bak and Bjorna Gras clinched third with a 2-0 win over Serena van der Made and Rianne Stok.
