Mexico's Sarabia & Osuna Triumph with NORCECA Tour Gold in El Salvador

Mexico’s Miguel Sarabia and Jorman Osuna clinched the gold medal in the men’s tournament at the 2025 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour held in San Salvador, El Salvador. This latest victory marks their third title of the season and their fifth career medal together on the continental stage.

Entering the competition as the third seed, the Mexican pair advanced out of Pool C and demonstrated consistent dominance in the knockout rounds:

  • Swept Costa Rica’s Julian Araya and Jhostin Varela in the semifinals: 2-0 (21-16, 21-18)
  • Defeated Canada’s Martin Licht and Luke de Greeff in the finals: 2-0 (21-15, 21-13)

This continued success showcases the increasing strength of Mexico’s beach volleyball program, amplified by support from the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment program, which provides critical resources such as coaching and equipment. Notably, Sarabia and Osuna are guided by Argentine coach Ruben Barrera.

On the women’s side, Canada’s Alison McKay and Darby Dunn made a memorable debut, securing gold after a pool-stage loss to the U.S. duo of Kelly Belardi and Natalie Myszkowski. The Canadians made a comeback to defeat the Americans in the final, 2-1 (21-19, 16-21, 15-8).

The final women's podium featured:

  1. Gold – Alison McKay/Darby Dunn (Canada)
  2. Silver – Kelly Belardi/Natalie Myszkowski (USA)
  3. Bronze – Maria Gonzalez/Allanis Navas (Puerto Rico)

Puerto Rico’s Gonzalez and Navas continued their streak of podium appearances for the 2025 season, reinforcing their presence as regional contenders.

The San Salvador event hosted 17 men’s and 15 women’s teams from 12 nations and was the eighth stop on the 2025 NORCECA Tour. The tour continues in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from September 26 to 28.

This leg of the tour once again highlights the impact of development initiatives like the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment program in elevating performance and fostering success for national teams across North and Central America and the Caribbean.
