Marco and Esteban Grimalt of Chile have successfully advanced to the main draw of the 2025 Beach Pro Tour Ostrava Elite16, overcoming last year's early departure. Competing at the distinctive Lower Vítkovice venue in Ostrava, the experienced duo achieved a straight-set victory (22-20, 21-17) against Austria’s Timo Hammarberg and Tim Berger, securing their place in Pool F.
In this pool, they will face strong competition, including:
- Ondrej Perusic and David Schweiner (Czechia)
- Michal Bryl and Bartosz Łosiak (Poland)
- Hugo Campos and João Pedrosa (Portugal)
The Grimalts stood out as the only non-European team to make it through qualifying. Other qualifiers included:
- Julian Hörl/Moritz Pristauz (Austria)
- Christoph Dressler/Philipp Waller (Austria)
- Benedikt Sagstetter/Jonas Sagstetter (Germany)
- Philipp Huster/Maximilian Just (Germany)
- Rémi Bassereau/Calvin Aye (France)
- Jiri Sedlak/Jakub Sepka (Czechia)
- Campos/Pedrosa (Portugal)
In contrast, two Brazilian teams exited early, unable to win a single set in their qualifiers.
Main draw pool play is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, with the top teams advancing to the knockout stages. The competition will culminate with the semifinals and medal matches on Sunday.
The Ostrava Elite16 continues to be a highlight of the Beach Pro Tour, drawing elite athletes striving for ranking points and early-season momentum.
