Ukrainian beach volleyball duo Anhelina Khmil and Valentyna Davidova delivered a major upset at the 2025 Beach Pro Tour Elite16 event in Ostrava, Czechia, by defeating top-seeded American Olympians Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher. The victory secured their spot in the elimination rounds, marking a significant milestone in their performance on the international stage.
Beginning the event in the qualifiers, Khmil and Davidova showcased resilience and skill by battling through two intense three-set matches:
- Match 1: Defeated Wies Bekhuis and Emi van Driel of the Netherlands (11-21, 21-16, 16-14)
- Match 2: Overcame American heavyweights Nuss and Brasher in Pool A (21-14, 12-21, 20-18)
This event marks the Ukrainian team’s first main-draw appearance at an Elite16 tournament, a significant achievement considering the partnership only began in 2024. Their victory against a team that has claimed four Elite16 titles over the past year highlights their rapid development and growing threat on the tour.
