The 2025 Beach Volleyball season heats up as the Veracruz Challenge brings the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour back to Mexico, promising sun, sand, and elite-level action. Scheduled for October 1–5, this event marks the tour’s final Mexican stop and is the sixth out of seven Challenge-level tournaments for the season.
Hosted along the scenic Gulf of Mexico, the competition is set to feature several of the sport’s top names in women's beach volleyball. Australian duo Taliqua Clancy—a Tokyo 2020 silver medalist—and her partner Jana Milutinovic headline as the tournament’s second seed. Clancy is aiming to claim her first podium finish of the year.
Leading the pack are Americans Corinne Quiggle and Chloe Loreen, who top the seeding chart. The U.S. is strongly represented with six teams already pre-qualified for the main draw. Other top competitors include:
- Marie-Sara Stochlova (Czech Republic)
- Lezana Placette and Alexia Richard (France)
- Monika Paulikiene and Aine Raupelyte (Lithuania)
The event's structure consists of a modified pool play format followed by a single-elimination bracket. From the qualification rounds on Wednesday, eight teams will advance to join the 24 teams already placed in the main draw.
Among the notable qualifiers are Sophie Bukovec of Canada and Dutch Olympians Katja Stam and Raisa Schoon, both returning after overcoming earlier injuries and eager to make a statement on the sand.
With global ranking points on the line and rising stakes late in the season, the Veracruz Challenge delivers a high-octane showcase of athleticism and competition for volleyball fans across the world.
