Åhman and Hellvig Dominate Swedish Showdown to Lead Montréal Pool

Olympic champions David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig continued their stellar performance at the Beach Pro Tour Montréal Elite16, emerging undefeated in Pool B. The Swedish pair secured a straight-set victory against compatriots Jakob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson with a commanding 21-12, 21-15 win. Having won all their matches without losing a set, Åhman and Hellvig advanced directly to the quarterfinals.

Their dominance, on full display at Parc Jean-Drapeau during the third day of play, reaffirms their recent victory over the same opponents. Their precise and poised gameplay continues to set them apart on the world stage.

Pool Winners Advancing to Quarterfinals

Alongside the Swedish duo, three other top teams secured their spots in the quarterfinals by winning their respective pools:

  • Norway’s Anders Mol and Christian Sørum
  • Czechia’s Ondřej Perušič and David Schweiner
  • Poland’s Michal Bryl and Bartosz Łosiak

Mol and Sørum overcame an earlier setback after a tie-break loss to Argentina’s Capogrosso brothers but ultimately claimed Pool A through a superior set ratio. In Pool D, a three-way tie was broken in favor of Perušič and Schweiner. Meanwhile, Bryl and Łosiak were awarded a forfeit win in Pool C due to the withdrawal of Qatar’s Younousse and Tijan because of injury.
