Dutch beach volleyball player Alexander Brouwer has successfully completed his medal collection at Gstaad by achieving gold at the Beach Pro Tour Elite event alongside his partner Stefan Boermans. The pair triumphed over the USA's Trevor Crabb and Evan Budinger in what proved to be a challenging final. Although they dropped the first set, the Dutch duo made a remarkable comeback to win 2-1, with scores of 26-28, 21-17, 15-11.
Gstaad is renowned as a premier venue in beach volleyball, and this win represents a significant milestone in Brouwer's distinguished career. Prior to this victory, he had secured bronze and silver medals at Gstaad in 2015 and 2019, respectively. This recent gold medal win comes 16 years after his debut appearance in Gstaad, during which he didn't manage to reach the main court.
In the final match, Boermans and Brouwer showcased remarkable resilience and teamwork. Despite an initial setback, Boermans excelled with 10 blocks, while Brouwer impressively added 21 attacks and an ace, resulting in a total point lead of 62-56.
Now, Brouwer is hailed as one of the most reliable players in the Gstaad tournaments over the past decade. This gold medal not only cemented his status but also highlighted his ongoing success in the international beach sports arena.
