Brazilian Duo Carol & Rebecca Battle Americans Nuss & Brasher for Prestigious Brasilia Gold

Brazilian pair Carol Solberg and Rebecca Cavalcanti will battle American duo Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher in the final of the highly anticipated Brasilia Elite16, part of the 2025 Beach Pro Tour. The much-anticipated final is set for Sunday at 13:00 local time.

The Brazilians forged their path to the final with impressive victories over both medal-winning teams from the Paris 2024 Olympics:

  • A straight-set triumph over Canadian silver medalists Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson.
  • A dramatic comeback win in three sets against compatriots and Olympic gold medalists Ana Patricia Ramos and Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda).

This final appearance is the second of the season for Carol and Rebecca, following their gold-winning performance at the Quintana Roo Elite. Their continued success strengthens their reputation as top contenders in the global beach volleyball scene.

Team USA’s Nuss and Brasher, seeded second in the tournament, progressed to the gold medal match with back-to-back dominant performances:

  1. Quarterfinal win over Italians Valentina Gottardi and Reka Orsi Toth.
  2. Straight-set semifinal victory against Dutch newcomers Emi van Driel and Wies Bekhuis.

Despite Bekhuis scoring seven aces in their semifinal clash, the Americans showed poise and played with remarkable consistency to seal the win without dropping a set.

Meanwhile, van Driel and Bekhuis—who started their tournament run in the qualifiers—will contest the bronze medal match against Ana Patricia and Duda. That match will take place at 12:00 local time, just an hour ahead of the final showdown.
