Brazil's Carol Solberg & Rebecca Cavalcanti Claim Top Spot in FIVB Beach Volleyball Rankings

Brazilian beach volleyball stars Carol Solberg and Rebecca Cavalcanti have ascended to the No. 1 spot in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Rankings, following their gold medal victory at the Itapema Elite16 tournament on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour.

Held on their home soil, the victory earned the duo 1,200 ranking points. That was enough to overtake fellow Brazilians Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes, who finished third at the same event. Carol and Rebecca now lead with a total of 8,440 points, maintaining a tight 200-point margin over their compatriots.

Prior to this weekend, American partners Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher held the top spot. However, their absence in Itapema caused them to slip to third in the global rankings.

Milestone Achievement

This marks the first time that Carol and Rebecca have reached the top together. Carol previously attained the No. 1 position in March 2025 alongside Bárbara Seixas, while Rebecca’s highest prior ranking was No. 2 with Agatha Bednarczuk.

Top 10 Women’s Teams

The remainder of the women’s top 10 rankings saw minimal changes. The current standings are:

  • 4th: Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova (Latvia)
  • 5th: Ana Patricia Ramos and Eduarda "Duda" Lisboa (Brazil)
  • 6th: Terese Cannon and Megan Kraft (USA)
  • 7th: Molly Shaw and Kelly Cheng (USA)

Men’s Rankings Update

On the men’s side, Norwegian team Anders Mol and Christian Sorum continue to dominate at No. 1. A highlight from the Itapema competition was the significant 11-spot leap made by France’s Elouan Chouikh and Joadel Gardoque, who climbed to a career-high 37th after winning the men’s event.

The Beach Pro Tour continues to be a crucial stage as athletes gear up for the pivotal tournaments of the 2025 season.
