Cherif & Ahmed Secure Gold at Sanya Beach Games

Qatar's Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan secured the gold medal in men's beach volleyball at the 2026 Asian Beach Games, held in Sanya, China. Their remarkable performance was evident as they dominated the tournament, winning all seven matches. In the finals, they clinched victory over Iran’s Abolhassan Khakizadeh and AmirAli GhalehNovi with a straight-sets triumph (21-15, 21-12), reinforcing their standing as leaders in the sport.

Iran captured the silver medal, while Thailand's team of Wachirawit Muadpha and Netitorn Muneekul claimed the bronze by defeating Oman in the match for third place.

In the women's category, Japan's Ren Matsumoto and Non Matsumoto secured the silver medal. However, it was Thailand’s pair, Worapeerachayakorn Kongphopsarutawadee and Taravadee Naraphornrapat, who won the gold by remaining undefeated throughout the tournament. China’s Jiang Kaiyue and Dong Jie thrilled the local audience by taking home the bronze.

The event saw participation from 35 men's teams and 28 women's teams, representing 26 federations. This showcased the growing appeal of beach volleyball in Asia and highlighted the diverse talent from various nations.
