Dutch Duo Luini & Poiesz Triumph at Beach Pro Tour in France

Lisa Luini and Desy Poiesz from the Netherlands recorded a remarkable milestone by winning their first Beach Pro Tour gold medal at the Bondues Lille Metropole Futures event in France. The duo displayed dominant form throughout the tournament, not dropping a single match in their five outings.

Road to Victory

In the semifinals, the Dutch team narrowly defeated France’s Ophelie Lusson and Alex Merle in a three-set battle (2-1: 26-28, 21-18, 15-6). They then outclassed top-seeded French players Romane Sobezalz and Saofe Duval with an emphatic straight-sets win in the final (21-8, 21-14).

This triumph represents the first title for Luini and Poiesz as a pair on the international tour. Prior to this victory, they had earned one silver and two bronze medals. For Desy Poiesz, it marks her second career gold, having previously earned one with a different partner.

French Presence on the Podium

French athletes left a strong mark at the event:

  • Romane Sobezalz and Saofe Duval took silver, showing impressive performance in their first tournament together at this level.
  • Ophelie Lusson and Alex Merle rebounded from their semifinal loss to claim bronze with a 2-1 win over Germany’s Sophia Neuss and Mareet Maidhof.

Event Overview

The Bondues Futures tournament showcased the growing competitiveness of international women’s beach volleyball. A total of 25 teams from 16 different federations participated, underlining the increasing global interest in the sport.
