Brazil is set to take center stage in the beach volleyball world this September as it hosts two Elite-level Beach Pro Tour events. The cities of João Pessoa and Rio de Janeiro will proudly showcase top-tier international competition, offering unmatched excitement for fans and athletes alike throughout South America.
João Pessoa: A Consistent Beach Volleyball Destination
From 17–21 September, João Pessoa will welcome the world's best beach volleyball talent for the third year in a row. Nestled on Brazil's northeastern coast, the city has become a staple on the Beach Pro Tour's Elite calendar. This year's event will feature:
- 24 men's teams
- 24 women's teams
The consistent inclusion of João Pessoa underscores its growing reputation and capability in hosting world-class events.
Rio de Janeiro: Olympic Legacy and Elite Action
The competition will continue in Rio de Janeiro from 24–28 September. Following last year's successful staging, Rio is returning with a complete Elite event. Famed for its iconic beaches and Olympic history, Rio is a fitting backdrop for high-caliber matches. Like João Pessoa, it will feature:
- 24 men's teams
- 24 women's teams
Its passionate fans and stunning coastal setting make Rio an unmissable stop on the tour.
Challenge-Level Tournament Adds to Brazil’s Hosting Duties
Before the Elite events, Brazil will also stage a Challenge-level tournament now scheduled for 3–7 September. Originally slated for July, the change ensures better alignment with the subsequent major events. While the location is yet to be announced, it adds another competitive layer to Brazil’s September lineup.
Baden Challenge Expands in Austria
Elsewhere, Austria’s Baden Challenge is undergoing a significant upgrade. Scheduled for 5–10 August, the tournament will:
- Expand to 32 teams per gender
- Adopt a five-day format
This evolution aims to create a more engaging and extended experience for both athletes and spectators.
With Brazil acting as a dynamic anchor for September and Austria strengthening the August slate, the 2025 Beach Pro Tour continues to grow in stature and scope. These enhancements reflect the tour's commitment to spreading the game’s global reach and competitive excellence.
