The 2025 Beach Pro Tour kicks off its first Challenge-level event of the season with the Yucatan Challenge in Puerto Progreso, Mexico, running from March 19-23. This tournament will feature a new competition format and the debut of several newly formed beach volleyball partnerships.
New Competition Format
A revised format will be introduced, featuring a 32-team main draw per gender. Eight teams will advance through a two-round qualification process. The tournament structure includes:
- A modified pool phase to determine rankings
- Transition to a single-elimination bracket
- Quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal matches to conclude the event
New Partnerships to Watch
Several fresh duos will compete at this event, aiming to establish themselves on the professional circuit:
- Carol Solberg & Rebecca Cavalcanti (Brazil) – Both bring extensive international experience.
- Tanja Huberli & Leona Kernen (Switzerland) – Swiss Olympian Huberli joins forces with Kernen.
- Taliqua Clancy & Jana Milutinovic (Australia) – Clancy forms a new partnership after competing with Mariafe Artacho Del Solar.
- Toni Rodriguez & Kylie Kuyava-De Berg (USA)
- Julia Scoles & Lexy Denaburg (USA)

The tournament begins on Wednesday with the women’s qualifiers, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting season of new rivalries and breakout performances.
