France's Bold Medal Quest at Adelaide Beach Volleyball Championships

France is preparing for a strong showing at the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships, scheduled from November 14 to 23 in Adelaide. With momentum carried over from the Paris 2024 Olympics and substantial coaching support, the French squads are geared for success.

Boost from Volleyball Empowerment Programme

A nearly USD 1 million investment from the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment Programme has bolstered France’s preparations. This funding has strengthened both the men's and women’s lineups, each featuring two competitive pairs.

Men's Teams

  • Rémi Bassereau and Calvin Aye (Seeded 13th): Competing in Pool L, they will face teams from Chile, Morocco, and host nation Australia. Bassereau brings Olympic experience, while Aye debuts on the international stage.
  • Téo Rotar and Arnaud Gauthier-Rat (Seeded 18th): Assigned to Pool G, this duo combines European youth success with Gauthier-Rat’s previous Championship experience.

Women's Teams

  • Clémence Vieira and Aline Chamereau (Seeded 15th): Fresh off a silver medal at the 2025 European Championship, they enter Pool J to compete against teams from the Netherlands, Morocco, and Canada.
  • Lézana Placette and Alexia Richard (Seeded 28th): Set to take on teams from Germany, the USA, and Mozambique in Pool D. This marks their third World Championships appearance.

Tournament Format

The format includes:

  1. 48 teams per gender, divided into 12 pools
  2. Pool winners advance directly to the Round of 16
  3. Others compete in a “lucky loser” round for remaining slots

As France eyes a podium finish in Adelaide, this championship will act as a key stepping stone toward their ambitions at Los Angeles 2028.
