Japan and Germany Shine at Haikou Beach Volleyball Event

In an impressive show at the Haikou Futures, part of the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment initiative, beach volleyball pairs from Japan and Germany excelled by claiming bronze medals in both the women's and men's categories. The event, which is part of a series of international competitions on the Beach Pro Tour, took place in Haikou, China, bringing together teams from various countries.

Japan's duo, featuring two-time Olympian Miki Ishii and partner Mayu Kikuchi, continued their strong form with another podium finish, following their recent gold at the Sanya Futures. Germany's Niklas Held and Luis Kubo also secured their second consecutive podium, underscoring their rising expertise in international beach volleyball.

China led the event with three out of four podium highlights:

  • Jiang Kaiyue and Dong Jie won the women's gold in an all-Chinese final.
  • Wu Jiaxin and Wang Yanwei emerged victorious in the men's category, also achieving a gold medal.
  • Turkey’s Yusuf Ozdemir and Batuhan Kuru earned the silver in the men's final, furthering their international achievements.

The Haikou Futures fits into a larger calendar of beach volleyball competitions under the Beach Pro Tour. This tour offers a platform for internationals and emerging talents to compete at high levels while gaining support from the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment program. This initiative provides funding for coaching, equipment, and knowledge exchange to help national teams advance their skills. The next stop on the Beach Pro Tour is scheduled for Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
