Latvian beach volleyball stars Martins Plavins and Kristians Fokerots have reached a career milestone by securing second place in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Rankings. This leap follows their strong showing at the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Hamburg Elite, where they clinched a bronze medal. This achievement marks their second consecutive bronze and fourth Elite-level medal this season, highlighting their impressive consistency globally.

Plavins, at 41, is a seasoned three-time Olympian and 2012 Olympic bronze medalist. His partnership with the young and talented 21-year-old Kristians Fokerots, a two-time age-group world champion, has blossomed into a formidable team. Their rise in the rankings was fueled by a gain of 360 points, bringing their total to 7,860. This advancement enabled them to overtake reigning Olympic and world champions, Sweden's David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig, as well as Brazil's Evandro Oliveira and Arthur Mariano Lanci.

In the women's division, Latvia's Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova also made an impressive move, reclaiming second in the world rankings following a strong Hamburg performance. Meanwhile, Hamburg Elite winners, Germany's Nils Ehlers and Lui Wust, soared up 93 places, now landing at 76th.
